He was married to Peggy...Born in 1933 north of Baker Lake, Silas Aittauq spent his early years in the Back River region before settling in Baker Lake around 1960. He was married to Peggy Qablunaaq Aittauq, daughter of the renowned artist Jessie Oonark.
