Adams was the granddaughter of Haida artists Charles and Isabella Edenshaw (c. 1839-1920 and c. 1842-1926, respectively) and the mother of contemporary master weaver Isabel Rorick (b. 1955). Adams was taught to weave by her mother-in-law, Selina Peratrovich (Haida, 1890-1984), and along with her sister-in-law, Delores Churchill (b. 1929), was a key figure in the revival of Haida spruce root weaving.
This diminutive hat is masterfully woven out of split spruce roots and features a painted black-and-red formline frog. Made identically to full-sized spruce root rain hats (but at jewelry scale), this woven pendant is a wonder of Haida creativity and technical skill. It has been painted by her son, Alfred Adams.
