The sense of company is what gives this work its appeal. Here, a small colony of seals and pups is gathered tightly together, with small points of black inlay set the eyes and snouts with clarity. Each antler form is shaped into a rounded body and polished to a smooth, pale sheen. The stout, compact shapes of these animals suggest they are well fed, warm, and content. The group sits snug and settled, pressed shoulder to shoulder in shared shelter on the shoreline slab, and the composition holds that simple feeling of safety in numbers.
