As a patriarch to an artistic legacy in Kinngait, Sharky Nuna's name is a familiar one to many Inuit art fans. Here we are treated to a familiar elongated form by Sharky, a seal basking in the arctic sun. There is an amorphous, abstract quality to this work, as Sharky has only used the barest of details to define the animal. The gentle curves of the body are broken up by quick, carved lines that define the flippers and face out of the mass of stone, but nothing further. Sharky's distinctive vision was originally all is own before aspects can be seen influencing the work of his children and grandchildren, a memory in the work of the new generations that followed him.
