The hands rest...This figure is composed for weight and balance. Here, the legs are firmly set, giving a broad base, while the body rises in a single, solid mass. The hands rest high on the torso, just beneath the chest, held close to the form rather than reaching outward. The face is pared down and smooth, with features reduced to the few marks needed to read. Everything is kept compact and contained, so the eye settles on the simple geometry of the stance and the dense, grounded shape of the body.
