Upon close inspection however, Sivuraq’s...Thomas Sivuraq is a supremely gifted stone sculptor who for many years was eclipsed by better-known Qamani’tuaq artists such as Barnabus Arnasungaaq and Mathew Aqigaaq. Upon close inspection however, Sivuraq’s body of work displays tremendous variety and exceptional skill. Many of his works feature elaborately incised surface decoration reminiscent of early 1970s era Barnabus sculptures. That being said, we love the relative simplicity of this Muskox and the gorgeous surface patina indicating that it has been lovingly and repeatedly caressed.Provenance
