This imaginative sculpture combines human and animal imagery in a compact narrative composition. The base is comprised of two human faces, possibly suggesting a man and wife. Flying overhead is a delicately carved bird. Depending on one’s interpretation, the sculpture is merely a lovely tableau of life on the land, with humans surrounded by nature, or is perhaps associated with Inuit shamanic belief, as birds flying overhead are often seen as spirit helpers.
