This caribou is, indeed as it's title suggests, majestic. Kananginak has caught the animal in full cry, the mouth open in a bleat, while the body drives forward in mid gallop. The sense of motion is immediate but so too is the animal’s presence, with its lifted head, extended legs, and broad antlers taking hold of the eye at once.

Translated from Kananginak's drawing into print by Pee Mikkigak with exceptional skill, the image carries a remarkable range of tonality of colour. Across the hide, the fur shifts in density and surface, moving from soft shadow to lighter passages with great control. The red at the antlers has a velvety cast that suggests the brief season before shedding.
