Others, for any number of reasons, did not continue. Sheelaky appears to fall into the latter category, with only two of her images produced as prints.
We love how this graphite drawing captures the spirit of this early era. In the upper register, a dog drives hard after a caribou. Both animals show their tongues and the pursuit reads as long, breathless, and tiring. Below, two hybrid bird human figures take over the scene. The figure at left clutches two birds in its talons. The figure at right grips a harpoon tip and an ulu, also held in its talons. Both creatures wear enormous, toothy smiles, and seem wholly untroubled by the snarling bear at their side. Wonderful.
