In...Kiakshuk was among the early participants in the Kinngait arts programs and he returned again and again to the lived record of Inuit experience, whether observed, remembered, or retold. In this work, the clothing is handled with close attention. The animals seen are given their own temperaments and expressions. The figures are arranged in an almost “laid out” manner across the page, which suggests something instructive and open, like a demonstrative sheet made for looking, comparing, and recognizing. The result is warm, alert, and immediately engaging.
