Vivid turquoise, orange, cream, and black are arranged in crisp, interlocking shapes that give the central figure a near-buoyant presence. The animal’s inquisitive rounded eye, compact body, and curled posture lend it an energy that borders on the comical. Only with the title does the scene sharpen into something more troubling: the serrated circle clasping the bear’s arm is a trap. In an instant, the image shifts from charming to painful, and the creature’s lively awkwardness begins to read instead as distress. Poor Fellow!
