His training began with his maternal grandfather, Chief Mungo Martin (1879-1962), and he later apprenticed with his own father, Henry Hunt (1923-1985), and took on the position of "First Carver" for Thunderbird Park at the Royal British Columbia Museum, a position that had been created for his grandfather and had also passed on to his father and brother Richard Hunt (1951- ) previously. This print illustrates the facade and painted house front of Tony Hunt’s grandfather, Chief Jonathan Hunt of Fort Rupert, BC. It features a Sisiutl over the doorway that is flanked by a pair of Thunderbirds with Hawkman figures in their chests, a fine and complex design.Provenance
