Against this, the hooked beaks, round yellow eyes, and small radiating marks give each bird its own alert presence.
The line work is sharp and varied. Kakegamic uses serrated outer edges to suggest feathers, while the interior forms are filled with stripes, dots, bars, and small broken marks. These details animate the surface without cluttering it.
The palette is direct: black, yellow, red, and brown. Black gives the print its weight, yellow provides heat and brightness, red punctuates the image, and brown grounds it. The result is simple, bold, and wonderfully controlled.
