In this example, while at a glance a simple design, this beaded purse features some of the hallmarks of Wolastoqiyik artisans. One one side a central flower with heart shaped petals is surrounded by multiple border lines, both zigzag and straight, and a wreath of curls and crosses. On the other, a mirrored design of diamonds and circles fans out from the centre to then be bordered many times over like the other side. The edges of the purse are finished with a delicate single line white beading, framing the sharp red felted wool and old silk binding. There is little argument one can make for one side being the "front" versus the other, as both can be picked to showcase to the owner's pride.
