One wing lifts in a playful, almost ceremonial wave, while the other sweeps softly to the side, giving the small bird a wonderfully open stance. Plump, poised, and positively personable, it seems less a solemn creature of the night than a cheerful little host, ready to receive every visitor with feathery flourish. Delightful!
