Although his bird sculptures might...We are all well acquainted with the deservedly celebrated "Pauta Bears," yet the artist's oeuvre spans a wide array of subjects over his extensive career. Although his bird sculptures might not always be immediately recognized as works by the master, his remarkable seals distinctly stand out from the crowd. While not dancing per se, this elegant creature is marvellously lively. The blend of adept and nuanced craftsmanship with the beautiful, variegated serpentinite stone typical of Kinngait in the early 1960s elevates this splendid Pauta seal to the same level as its renowned bear "cousins."Provenance
