Planted firmly on broad feet, the figure raises both arms high, the oversized hands spreading the gesture outward as though signalling across a wide stretch of land. Thick legs, broad shoulders, and a compact torso give the body a dense, grounded solidity, while the lifted arms introduce tension and movement above. The face is sparingly modelled and the surface left largely unembellished, allowing stance, scale, and silhouette to carry the sculpture’s expressive force.
Provenance
Galerie Le Chariot, Montreal;
Acquired from the above by the present Private Collection, Toronto, accompanied by a copy of the original receipt, 13 February 2010.
