Over the past two decades, Preston Singletary has created a number of major museum collections, theme collections for yearly exhibitions for a small network of galleries and many commissions. Currently he is producing a full set design for the Pacific Northwest Ballet Company’s production of Sleeping Beauty (the historic story blended with Northwest Coast mythology). He has recently published the book Preston Singletary – Fusion Notes, a biographical portrait of his life and career as a glass artist and musician. He collaborated with writer Garth Stein to create a contemporary interpretation of Raven’s influence in a modern world with the catalogue and exhibition titled I Dream, Therefore I Am at the Travers Gallery in Seattle. Singletary has always challenged himself to make new and relevant work. He has a long history of collaborative projects with many of the world’s leading indigenous artists. This project extends the collaboration to include visual and literary arts.

The Double Raven Design Dish is an early work when he first shifted from traditional glass blowing to fully embracing his Tlingit roots and exploring traditional forms. Early in his career he was featured on magazine covers as an important new artist for glass and Northwest Coast art. Some of the most established collectors from both art forms bridged their collection with the addition of Preston Singletary pieces. The addition of future pieces over many years has been a statement of his ability to grow and evolve as an artist.
