The warm patina also points to an earlier date of manufacture. With its ears flattened back and body poised in an aggressive stance, the bear has a wonderfully expressive character. Yet, for all its apparent ferocity, there is something distinctly endearing about the creature, whose exaggerated features lend it an unexpected and rather irresistible charm.
