A member of the Killer Whale Clan, Collins brings human and whale imagery together in a single sculptural form, linking the work to ancestral and supernatural relationships expressed through Northwest Coast crest art. In this work, the rider emerges from the whale rather than simply sitting upon it, giving the mask a strong narrative quality and emphasizing the interconnectedness of human, ancestral, and supernatural worlds.
