As with "Young Bird in Flight," this set of four prints presents a variation on one of Kenojuak’s most iconic and poetic images: the raven. With its ability to illustrate the softly incised etching lines that naturalistically indicate the form of the bird, the chine collé technique allowed for Kenojuak’s classic imagery to be powerfully distilled. In these works, we seem to enter into a world of total latency. The limber forms of these black birds each seem to float suspended atop the aureate ground, the golden tone of which seems to shine faintly through their shadowy shapes in spots.
