    By the early 1970s Pangnark’s works had become perhaps the best examples of the minimalist abstraction common in Arviat at the time. Despite an apparent economy of effort, here Pangnark masterfully presents the human figure in a seated or crouching position. At first glance one sees just a stone shard, but soon details begin to emerge: the peak of the parka hood, the pronounced knees, the division between head and chest, and of course, the “trademark” Pangnark facial features.
