Interestingly, his works often reflect social issues and their effect on Inuit contemporary life. He is a master of realism as well, even when the subject matter is not entirely realistic. Here he captures the fluid form and movement of a polar bear whose two heads are both positioned naturally; one head is downcast, while the other looks up, alertly. Perhaps this bear is resigned to hunger one moment but becomes hopeful the next, as it scents potential prey.
