A near constant contributor to the Annual Print Collection, Lucy Qinnuayuak’s graphic works of birds are a beloved presence in Inuit Art. Here in Young Bird Strutting, a young bird, defined by bold outlines while his family are washed in colour, proudly shows off their wings as their family looks on as an enraptured audience. Depicted in a delightful variety of poses and colours, many of Lucy’s avian subjects feature a playful movement to them, either dancing by themselves or in relation to others on the page, as charmingly depicted here.
