Most of his works were fairly modest in scale. This Hunter with Captured Bear would be considered one of his larger works. Rather than being an action-packed hunting scene or a display of triumph, the sculpture depicts a no doubt exhausted hunter resting – and perhaps pausing to reflect – after the exertion of having successfully killed his dangerous prey.
