The defining feature of their work...This older Nuu-chah-nulth pole was carved by an as-yet-unidentified artist who worked for the Hudson Bay Fur Co. of Seattle between 1900 and 1910. The defining feature of their work is the distinctive almond-shaped eyes with pupils totally surrounded by white. This example has a subtle but pleasing taper toward the top and features an Eagle, Bear, Owl, and Frog.
