We speak frequently of how west coast weavers are great achievers of a water tight weave in their tiny stitches, a needed skill for rain hats, baskets, and drinking vessels....We speak frequently of how west coast weavers are great achievers of a water tight weave in their tiny stitches, a needed skill for rain hats, baskets, and drinking vessels. Not to be outdone, others have achieved similar results to produce a secure vessel, and some with a larger weave than their counterparts. In the present example, tight stitches repeat around the coiled body and lid of the basket, the sides boasting a repeated pattern of triangles and large, outlined Xs that are dyed green to give contrast to the natural colour of the grasses. The finished product, itself a pleasing shape to behold, is a rigid form to hold one's precious items, complete with a snug and secure lid.Provenance
