Across the exterior, bands of black and warm red-brown maidenhair fern false embroidery form bold geometric motifs against the natural spruce-root ground.
A subtler pattern of raised diamonds extends across the surrounding surface, achieved by slightly enlarging select stitches and shifting them row by row to form diagonal lines. As the raised stitches catch the light, the diamonds emerge without the use of contrasting colour. Maintaining this pattern across the curved form would have required exceptional control and careful counting, with each small adjustment precisely placed.
