Ross Sheakley is a Tlingit artist from the Shangukeidi (Eagle/Thunderbird Clan) of Klukwan. Sheakley studied carving under his stepfather, Horace Marks (Tlingit, 1914-1994), and also took art classes from Bill...Ross Sheakley is a Tlingit artist from the Shangukeidi (Eagle/Thunderbird Clan) of Klukwan. Sheakley studied carving under his stepfather, Horace Marks (Tlingit, 1914-1994), and also took art classes from Bill Holm, before attaining his Associates of Arts at the University of Alaska Faribanks. [1] This halibut hook model is constructed of two pieces of red cedar hafted together with twine wrappings and a wooden barb. The carved side features a Killer Whale dorsal fin with an anthropomorphic face.
