This Coast Salish model canoe likely comes from the Puget Sound or Olympic Peninsula regions of Washington State. Dugout cedar canoes are a central feature in the cultural lives and livelihoods of Coast Salish peoples throughout their territories. This canoe is carved out of one piece of red cedar with a prow that’s been exaggerated into the long snout of a canid (complete with ears) and painted in white, red, and blue. The canoe comes with four (4) well carved miniature paddles.
