The body has become a broad, nearly uninterrupted mass, with only the slightest incisions and projections identifying hands, arms and face. Yet Pangnark extracts considerable expression from these few elements. The clasped hands gather at the front while the head tips sharply upward, transforming an elemental shape into a figure caught in a highly particular pose. The sculpture belongs to the crucial moment in Pangnark’s development when anatomy gave way to mass, contour and gesture, while the human presence remained unmistakable.Provenance
