Below, the butterfly answers with its own intricate patterning, setting up a playful tension between pursuer and prey. Worked entirely in ink, the drawing depends on the pressure, persistence, and precision of Pudlat’s line, which turns blank paper into surfaces that seem speckled, scaled, plumed, and almost palpable.Provenance
