The bird's signature triangular feet, perhaps the artist's ingenious simplification of the complexity of webbed feet, scratchy pencil marks, restrained use of colour, and strikingly simplified forms are all hallmarks of the distinctive visual language that admirers have come to know and love. Notably, Etidlooie had a brief artistic career that began in her early sixties. This drawing dates to her later years, having been made in the final years before her death in 1999.
