Brilliant bands of electric blue, golden yellow, orange and russet are enclosed within heavy black contours, while intricate stippling and hatching enrich its patterned surface. Serrated fins and formidable teeth contrast with the splendour of its colouring, while six circular forms suspended on serpentine lines extend the composition into the surrounding space. These exaggerated features may suggest the dangerous spiritual potency associated with underwater beings in Woodlands traditions, presenting a creature at once splendid, strange and sinister.
